Female Palestinian Prisoners at Damon Jail Face Deteriorating Conditions

Female Palestinian prisoners held at Damon Prison are facing increasingly difficult living conditions amid what rights advocates describe as a tightening of punitive measures inside the facility.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Prisoners’ Media Office said prison authorities have intensified pressure on detainees through repeated cell raids conducted at various times of the day and night. The organisation said the searches have become more frequent in recent weeks, creating an atmosphere of constant disruption and insecurity among those held in the prison.

The group also reported worsening humanitarian conditions, citing severe shortages of cleaning materials and limited access to basic necessities, including blankets. According to the statement, detainees have raised growing concerns over physical mistreatment and verbal abuse during inspections and searches carried out by prison staff.

The office further alleged that inadequate medical care remains a serious issue inside the prison, with sick prisoners facing delays in treatment and a lack of appropriate healthcare. It said the situation has contributed to the deterioration of several detainees’ health and increased their daily suffering.
