Hamas Condemns Israeli Settlement Plans in Northern Gaza

SAFA- Hamas movement condemned remarks by Israeli War Minister Israel Katz regarding Israeli plans to establish three settlement outposts in the northern Gaza Strip, saying they reflect intentions of displacement and further escalation.

In a statement on Tuesday, Hamas said the proposed plans demonstrate ongoing Israeli efforts to impose a new reality on the ground and forcibly displace Palestinians.

The Movement emphasized that Katz’s comments reveal a “mindset of displacement and ethnic cleansing,” accusing Israeli leadership of continuing policies aimed at expanding control over Palestinian land in disregard of international law and United Nations resolutions.

Hamas also called on mediators involved in ceasefire efforts, including the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump, to take responsibility and act urgently to halt the Israeli expansionist plans.

The statement further added that Katz's reported remarks expressing satisfaction over destruction in Gaza indicate a premeditated intent to commit crimes amounting to genocide against Palestinians in the enclave.

Hamas urged the International Criminal Court and other courts worldwide to investigate and hold Israeli officials accountable, including issuing arrest warrants over crimes they committed against Palestinians.

The comments came after Katz toured northern Gaza, where he praised the widespread destruction, describing it as the result of a "deliberate policy" and saying the scenes gave him "a good feeling."

In an interview broadcast Monday evening by Israel's Channel 14, Katz said he intends to establish three military-style settlement outposts in the Gaza Strip.

Asked how he felt while looking at the devastation in Gaza, Katz replied, "It feels good, doesn't it?" He said that the destruction was "the result of a deliberate policy aimed at eliminating threats."

Katz added that Israel had abandoned a strategy of temporary military raids, saying, "Instead of entering and leaving, the Israeli army is now inside, the terrorists are outside, and the houses are destroyed."

One of the tour's most important moments, according to Channel 14, was when Katz presented what it called a new strategic objective: creating a permanent Jewish presence in the northern Gaza Strip.
