Engineer Aya Fuqaha Held in Solitary Confinement at Damon Prison

SAFA- Palestinian female detainees in Israeli occupation prisons continue to face harsh detention conditions, amid reports of abuse, mistreatment, starvation, and prolonged isolation.

Aya Hatem Fuqaha, 34, from the town of Kafr Al-Labad, east of Tulkarm, is being held at Damon Prison, where she remains in solitary confinement alongside two other Palestinian women detainees without any publicly known justification.

Fuqaha is an engineer and the founder of a women's culinary entrepreneurship project. She is the third of her sisters to be imprisoned by Israeli occupation forces, following the earlier arrests of Baraa and Alaa Fuqaha.

According to her family, Fuqaha has suffered dramatic weight loss and severe malnutrition as a result of what they describe as Israel's starvation policy inside the prison.

Her family receives information about her condition only through lawyers and released female detainees, as Israeli authorities continue to prohibit family visits.

Despite her detention and prolonged isolation, her family says she has maintained a strong spirit. Before her arrest, she led an entrepreneurship initiative aimed at supporting and empowering women in her community.

The family continues to hope for an end to her solitary confinement and her release after experiencing the detention of three daughters in Israeli occupation prisons.

Israeli occupation forces arrested Aya Fuqaha on February 26, 2026. Her case remains before the court, with her next hearing scheduled for August.
