SAFA- Hamas said that Israel is not seeking a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, citing repeated violations of the truce and continued military escalation. The movement said that Israeli airstrikes, which killed dozens of civilians, are further evidence that Israel intends to continue its ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

In press statements, Hamas official Ghazi Hamad called on international mediators to intervene urgently to halt the Israeli bombing, citing the escalating Israeli violations of the ceasefire arrangement.

Hamad said Israeli attacks since Sunday morning have killed at least 19 Palestinians. 

He argued that the ongoing Israeli bombardment demonstrates that Israeli occupation “does not want to reach an agreement,” adding that Hamas has informed mediators that Israeli occupation is not adhering to existing understandings.

He added that the movement has urged mediators to take concrete steps to pressure the Israeli government to end the escalation and comply with the terms of the ceasefire.

Hamad also noted that Hamas has not received any official Israeli position regarding the second phase of the agreement, stressing that Israeli occupation must fulfill its obligations before any further steps can proceed.

The remarks come as Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip have killed and wounded dozens of Palestinians, including women and children. The renewed attacks have heightened concerns over the stability of the ceasefire and raised fears of a broader escalation that could further undermine efforts to reach a lasting agreement.
