SAFA - Palestinian prisoner Wajdi Azmi Joudah, 49, from Nablus, has now spent 23 consecutive years in Israeli prisons following his arrest on August 6, 2004.

According to the Prisoners' Media Office, Israeli occupation forces pursued Joudah for three years prior to his arrest. He was interrogated for several months at the Petah Tikva interrogation center before being sentenced by an Israeli military court to 25 years in prison.

Joudah has so far served 22 years of his sentence.

The Prisoners' Media Office stated that Israeli occupation forces demolished Joudah's family home three months after his arrest. During his imprisonment, Joudah obtained a bachelor's degree in history from Al-Aqsa University, a bachelor's degree in political science, and a master's degree in regional studies from Al-Quds University. He is currently pursuing a doctorate.

Prior to his arrest, Joudah held a diploma in software and databases and was enrolled at Al-Quds Open University. His detention prevented him from completing his studies.

Joudah is regarded as one of the leaders of the Palestinian national prisoners' movement. He has authored numerous political and intellectual articles and is considered among the most active prisoners in Israeli prisons.
