SAFA - The work of the “Hind Al-Dughma” Dialysis Center of Nasser Medical Complex, in Khan Yunis Governorate, in the southern Gaza Strip, is under growing pressure. This is in addition to the fact that it continues to provide services to more than 200 kidney failure patients from various governorates of the Strip, amid an acute shortage of medicines and medical consumables and a decline in capabilities due to the ongoing Israeli aggression. 

During the first half of 2026, the center conducted approximately 2,159 dialysis sessions, according to Riyad Barbakh, head of the dialysis department. Meanwhile, 5 doctors and 21 nurses work in the department to provide around-the-clock service to patients.

Barbakh stated that the volume of pressure on the department is increasing in tandem with the scarcity of medical devices and supplies. 

He noted that the difficult conditions under which the center operates have led to the loss of a number of patients as a result of the inability to provide all the necessary medical care requirements for them.

He emphasized that dialysis sessions represent the line between life and death for patients, warning that any shortage of supplies or equipment failure could threaten the lives of hundreds of patients who regularly depend on this service.

Barbakh appealed to international bodies and relief organizations for urgent intervention to provide dialysis machines, medicines, and necessary medical consumables in order to ensure the continued operation of the department and protect patients from the risk of losing their lives as a result of the stoppage or disruption of dialysis sessions.
