SAFA -  Demonstrators gathered in the Swedish capital of Stockholm to protest Israel’s attacks on Gaza and Lebanon and demand an end to attacks against civilians.

The protesters assembled at Odenplan Square at the invitation of civil society organizations, expressing opposition to Israel’s ongoing military actions in the region.

Participants carried signs reading, “Civilians are being killed in Gaza,” “Schools and hospitals are being bombed,” “Stop the attacks on Lebanon,” “End food shortages,” and “We do not want war.” Demonstrators also chanted slogans opposing Israel.

Activist Karin Wilde said protesters would continue taking to the streets to demand an end to Israeli attacks on Gaza and Lebanon.

“The reason I am here is to be a voice for those who have no voice,” Wilde said, noting that the demonstrations have continued for more than two and a half years, reflecting the participants’ determination to maintain pressure.

Wilde said the protesters come from different religious backgrounds and are demonstrating “for humanity, for children, and for civilians.”

“We reject hatred, war, and the bombing of civilians,” she said, calling for international law to be applied equally to all parties.

“We do not want selective justice that is applied according to political interests,” Wilde added.

She also criticized the Swedish government’s response to developments in Gaza and Lebanon, urging it to take stronger action, listen to protesters, and better understand the situation on the ground.

Wilde called on the government to use its voice more forcefully and work toward ending the Israeli attacks.
