SAFA - The Palestinian Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Commission reported on Wednesday that living and health conditions in Ofer Prison remain difficult, citing ongoing punitive policies imposed by the prison administration. According to the Commission, these measures have resulted in deteriorating conditions for detainees.

In a statement, the Commission said the prison administration carries out a range of routine practices.

The Commission noted that food provided to prisoners is insufficient in both quantity and quality and that sick detainees are denied access to necessary medication and treatment. According to the Commission, cases of skin disease have increased among prisoners, raising health concerns.

The Commission added that the prison administration confiscates mattresses in the early morning and returns them in the evening. The Commission also reported that prison staff conduct raids on cells and sections, during which prisoners are subjected to physical and verbal abuse.

The Commission stated that prisoners are allowed no more than fifteen minutes for exercise and showering. It also reported that detainees lack adequate clothing and blankets, receiving only prison uniforms and a light pajama set.

Prisoners are also denied access to cleaning and sanitizing supplies, according to the Commission, as part of other punitive measures.

The Commission noted that these details were documented by its lawyers during visits to several prisoners in Ofer Prison, including Mahmoud Awewi (22 years old) from Hebron, administratively detained since March 13, 2025; Musa Amar (28 years old) from Beit Ummar, administratively detained since July 2025; and Adam Atta (21 years old) from Deir Abu Mash'al, administratively detained since May 9, 2025.

The visits also included Hassan Al-Bayed (27 years old) from Al-Fawwar Refugee Camp, detained since his arrest on April 21, 2025, and Musab Al-Wahdeen (17 years old) from Beit Ummar, detained this year.
