SAFA — The second session of the 2026 General Secondary Education Certificate (Tawjihi) exams began across the Palestinian territories on Saturday morning, with around 20,000 male and female students taking part, including students sitting the exams abroad.

In the Gaza Strip, students are taking the exams in person and on paper in designated examination halls, following a three-year hiatus caused by the genocide and the devastating conditions that have severely disrupted the education system.

The Ministry of Education said it had made the necessary preparations to hold the exams in person despite the difficult conditions in Gaza, as part of efforts to restore the regular administration of the Tawjihi exams and revive the educational process.

Holding the exams in person is also intended to safeguard students’ right to education and allow them to continue their academic journey after years of severe disruption.
