SAFA — Israeli forces and settlers carried out 1,061 violations targeting Palestinian Bedouin communities and villages across the occupied West Bank in August, according to a report by a Palestinian rights organization.

Al-Baydar Organization for the Defense of Bedouin and Village Rights said the documented violations reflect escalating pressure on Bedouin and rural Palestinian communities and threaten their continued presence on their land.

According to the report, 222 shooting incidents were documented across West Bank governorates during August. Of these, 198 occurred during near-daily Israeli raids into villages, towns and population centers, while 24 were recorded at military checkpoints or during arrest operations.

The organization also documented 59 demolitions of residential structures in Bedouin communities, alongside 120 cases of property destruction and 67 incidents of property confiscation.

“These figures show a shift in pressure from directly targeting individuals and buildings to targeting the broader physical environment that enables residents to continue living in their areas,” the organization said.

Settler attacks also intensified during August, with Al-Baydar documenting 545 assaults affecting Bedouin communities. The incidents included attacks on Palestinians, homes, livestock and farmland, as well as vandalism, threats, harassment and restrictions on residents’ access to their land.

The organization also tracked 48 settlement-related activities during the month, including the establishment of new outposts, expansion of existing settlements and outposts, construction of settler roads, issuance of building tenders and land clearing.

Al-Baydar warned that settlement expansion lies at the heart of mounting pressure on Palestinian Bedouin communities, particularly through the expansion of settlements and outposts, construction of roads and systematic land clearing.

Among the most prominent incidents during August were repeated settler attacks in Qusra, south of Nablus, where Palestinian families endured a weeks-long siege. Settlers surrounded homes and blocked residents’ access to water, electricity and supplies.

On August 29, dozens of masked Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian home in Qusra with stones while seven Palestinians were trapped inside, according to witnesses cited by Reuters. When Israeli forces arrived, the homeowner said soldiers handcuffed, blindfolded and beat people inside before later releasing them. Witnesses said Israeli forces did not detain any of the settlers.
