Gaza’s health: We were informed of the entering of Coronavirus vaccine into Gaza Strip

The Palestinian Ministry of Health – Gaza said on Wednesday morning that the Ministry in the West Bank informed it of the arrival of a batch of Coronavirus vaccine to the Gaza Strip today.

The Director of Preventive Medicine at the Ministry in Gaza, Majdi Zaheer, told Safa that health officials in Ramallah informed Gaza that the first batch of the Russian vaccine will arrive today in the Strip.

As for the Hebrew newspaper, Maariv, today mentioned that the Israeli government allowed the entry of 1000 doses of Sputnik vaccine, donated by Russia, into the Gaza Strip through the Erez Crossing.

“Allowing the vaccine to enter Gaza came after the approval of the Israeli political leadership and in light of the opposition of the families of the captured Israeli soldiers in the Strip,” stated Maariv.

Israeli authorities refused to enter the vaccines into the Gaza Strip two days ago.

This is the first batch of Coronavirus vaccines to Gaza, whose health sector suffers of the Israeli blockade 14 years ago and of an acute shortage of medicines and medical supplies, which undermines the chances of facing the outbreak of the virus.
