The monitoring team of Action Group for Palestinians of Syria had documented 629 Palestinian refugee victims, who died in Syrian intelligence branches, alongside thousands of Syrians, and security handed over to dozens of victims' families the identification papers.
Thousands of Palestinian refugees, including women and children, in Syrian prisons, whose fate is unknown, suffer from grave violations and face the most severe types of inhuman treatment and systematic torture, according to the acting group.
This contravenes the Universal Declaration on the Protection of Women and Children in Cases of Emergency and Armed Conflict issued in 1974 in Article No. (5), which stipulates that these practices are considered criminal.
The monitoring team indicated that it had documented 1797 Palestinian detainees in the security branches of the Syrian regime, whom the group was able to document, including 110 refugees, in addition to dozens of children under 18.
The real number of detainees and torture victims is greater than what has been documented due to the Syrian regime's concealment of the names and information of the detainees, in addition to the fear of victims' families about announcing the death of their children under torture for fear of prosecution by the Syrian regime.
