SAFA — Singapore has launched the “Singapore for Humanity” network, a new initiative aimed at strengthening humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip amid the devastating conditions caused by Israel's genocidal war.
The initiative brings together the Singaporean government and four major humanitarian organizations to coordinate relief operations, accelerate aid delivery and encourage greater public participation in efforts to support Palestinians in Gaza.
According to the organizers, the network will serve as a joint platform to improve coordination among humanitarian partners, prevent duplication of efforts and streamline financial and in-kind donations.
It will also help facilitate the delivery of assistance through international and regional organizations operating in Gaza and neighboring countries.
Building on Singapore's Humanitarian Support for Gaza
The initiative builds on humanitarian efforts undertaken by Singaporean organizations since the beginning of Israel's war on Gaza in October 2023.
Singaporean relief organizations have contributed food, medical supplies and other essential items in cooperation with international humanitarian partners.
In April 2024, Singapore Red Cross volunteers traveled to Egypt to work alongside the Egyptian Red Crescent, helping prepare and pack humanitarian supplies intended for delivery to Gaza through the Rafah crossing.
The new network aims to expand these efforts by involving more volunteers, community organizations, private-sector partners and individual donors.
Participants will be able to contribute through financial donations, volunteer activities and logistical or medical support.
Organizers emphasized that the initiative seeks to establish a coordinated and sustainable humanitarian response rather than focusing solely on immediate emergency assistance.
Gaza's Humanitarian Crisis Drives Calls for Greater Support
More than two million Palestinians in Gaza continue to face severe humanitarian hardship, with widespread destruction of homes and essential infrastructure, shortages of food, medicine and clean water, and a healthcare system struggling to meet urgent medical needs.
The network aims to strengthen the delivery of humanitarian assistance and mobilize additional resources to address these needs.
Humanitarian activists in Singapore have described the initiative as an opportunity to encourage public participation through coordinated donation channels and established relief partners.
The network has also called on Singaporean citizens and residents to participate in fundraising and awareness campaigns supporting Palestinians in Gaza.
Organizers are expected to announce further details about donation mechanisms, volunteering opportunities and upcoming humanitarian programs.
