Israel Defense Minister Benny Gantz secretly met with Jordan's King Abdullah II in Amman, the Jordanian capital, Hebrew media outlet Yedioth Ahronoth.
“Netanyahu is an unwanted figure in Jordan, and his presence harms relations between the countries,” Gantz said.
Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi also met twice in recent months with his Jordanian counterpart.
In a Zoom conversation that Gantz had with activists last Friday, he hinted that he has close ties with the Jordanian regime.
Gantz blessed the language in which Prince Hassan bin Talal spoke in a recent interview with the newspaper.
"I think Jordan is a great asset to Israel and have a continuous and ongoing connection with the Jordanian king and other senior Jordanian officials, and I know we can have great achievements,” he said.
He continued, "I believe in the possibility of reaching much better cooperation through civil projects that will strengthen relations, but unfortunately Netanyahu is an unwanted figure in Jordan and an obstacle to develop such relations."
