The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) commended the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to open a probe into Israeli war crimes in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (oPt).

The OIC General Secretariat said in a press statement that "the decision is an important step in the way to achieve justice and hold Israel, the occupying power, to account for war crimes and violations of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories."

It is worth mentioning that the ICC Prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, announced the initiation of an investigation of the Situation in Palestine covering Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people.
