Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas hailed the steadfastness of Palestinian Jerusalemites in the face of the Israeli occupation.

"We hail the Palestinian Jerusalemites who stood steadfast last night in defence of the holy city of Jerusalem and faced off Israeli occupation’s attempts to break into Al-Aqsa Mosque," said Hamas official Rafaat Naseef.

"Last night's scene sends a clear message to the world that Jerusalem is the heart of the Palestinian freedom struggle against the Israeli occupation," Naseef added.

Additionally, Hamas condemned the Israeli measures aimed at preventing Palestinians from performing their holy rituals in the month of Ramadan, especially at the Damascus gate. "We deem such Israeli behaviour as a fascist demeanour."

"We confirm that all Israeli schemes to Judaize Jerusalem are deemed to failure, as the Palestinians will defend the holy city with all means possible," the movement underlined.
