Prisoners in Megiddo suffer from severe shortage of simplest needs

The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Committee called on the humanitarian and human rights institutions, led by the International Red Cross, to take immediate action to compel the Megiddo prison administration to agree to the prisoners' demands to bring in clothes, blankets, and other daily needs.

It is noteworthy that the prison administration took advantage of the Coronavirus pandemic to restrict prisoners and prevent family visits.

The Committee revealed that the prison administration took advantage of the Coronavirus pandemic to restrict the prisoners and make their daily lives more difficult, by depriving them of entering their needs and necessities, which were carried out through family visits, which were stopped by Israel on the pretext of the health situation.

"The Red Cross must carry out its responsibilities to the fullest, and immediately intervene to bring in clothes and all needs, and not leave this to the choice of the prison administration, specifically in light of the current health and political conditions, which coincide with a fierce attack on the Palestinian people, and implementing dozens and hundreds of arrests daily in the West Bank, Jerusalem and the occupied territories in 1948.
