A tense situation dominates the Israeli and Palestinian communities by the time of the March of Flags, supposed to be held today evening to provoke the Jerusalemite people.
Organizers of the march were permitted by the Israeli government and police to hold it at the scheduled time after attempts to cancel it, lest the battle with the Palestinian Resistance ignites again.
The March of Flags is organized every year on May 10 to celebrate the so-called "reunification of Jerusalem". Yet, it was delayed this year when the Palestinian Resistance fired Jerusalem with 4 rockets in parallel with the march and in support of the popular uprising that Jerusalem witnessed against the Israeli attacks and raids into Al-Aqsa mosque, resulting in the battle of "Jerusalem's Sword" between the Israeli army and the Palestinian Resistance which lasted for 11 days.
According to the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation, the march will start in Damascus Gate, one of the old gates of the old town, but it will not cross the Islamic Quarter as they hoped.
The Israeli police will allow the settlers to march towards the old neighborhoods, Damascus Gate, and the old alleys in Jerusalem, even though some leaders refused that as they fear the refueling of confrontations in the Palestinian areas again.
Omer Bar-Lev, the Party's point person on issues of peace and defense, ratified Monday the conduct of the march as scheduled while the Israeli army promoted the Iron Dome system in different spots in Israel, lest the situations deteriorate again.
"The Israeli police can preserve the Israeli people's safety and peace," Bar-Lev said after he met the general inspector of the Israeli police and other officers.
Hamas had previously warned of the March of Flags, which was considered the flame that ignited a new battle to defend Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa mosque.
The Palestinian factions said in separate statements that they are watching the developments in Jerusalem and the occupied Palestinian territories, warning Israel of performing any foolish actions through the march.
