The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas rejected the decision of Mr. Muhammad Shtayyeh to form a committee to investigate the circumstances of the assassination of the national activist and political opponent Nizar Banat.

In a press statement, Hamas said: "There is no trust in a committee formed by the authority, its government, and services for they all carried out the assassination, which must bear full responsibility for this heinous crime".

Hamas added, “We reaffirm our call to the masses of Palestine, the political, popular and civil forces to move in the broadest way to put a final end to the widespread violation by the Palestinian Authority against the freedoms and rights of our people who suffer the oppression of the Israeli occupation and the violations of the Palestinian Authority and its security services”.
