Palestinian factions attended a meeting held on July 1 in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
Husam Badran, head of Hamas’ National Relations Office, said that this meeting is part of the head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh’s visit to Lebanon to enhance the victory scored by the Palestinian resistance and people in the “Sword of Al-Quds” battle, which has represented a unique development and a strategic shift in the Palestinian national struggle against the Zionist project.
The participants discussed the reasons and updates of the “Sword of Al-Quds” battle and its consequences on the Palestinian cause and struggle with the Israeli occupation, in addition to the priorities of the next stage in a way that achieves the Palestinians’ major aspirations.
They highlighted the Palestinian resistance’s response to the Israeli crimes and plans to Judaise Jerusalem and take over Palestinian holy sites and neighborhoods.
"This confirms that the Palestinian people are working to protect their national rights and restore their lands," said Badran.
During the meeting, they pointed to the sense of unity expressed by the Palestinians in Jerusalem, Gaza, the West Bank, the Palestinian territories occupied in 1948, and Palestinian refugee camps as well as in diaspora in the face of the Israeli occupation, defending Jerusalem and embracing the option of resistance.
"This emphasizes that the Palestinian people, who have been under military occupation for 73 years, are still committed to their identity and national rights despite all Israeli conspiracies and plots orchestrated to divide them and detach them from their identity," Badran added.
The participants saluted all Palestinians of all segments at home and abroad, who have proved themselves to be ready and capable of making sacrifices in their path to victory and liberation.
Meanwhile, the participants stressed that the Palestinian revolt against the Israeli occupation from the river to the sea and unity behind the option of resistance requires a serious action to bring the Palestinian national liberation to the forefront and regard it as an area of common ground for a national consensus on a unified struggle program, they stressed.
"The unity expressed by the Palestinian people in the face of the Israeli occupation and the “Sword of Al-Quds” battle they bravely fought affirms that comprehensive resistance in all forms, foremost among them the armed struggle, is the only path to restoring Palestinian rights, liberating the Palestinian homeland and holy sites, and regaining the right of return for Palestinian refugees."
The attendants reiterated the necessity to seriously work on achieving national unity by renewing the legitimacy of Palestinian institutions, particularly the Palestinian National Council by-election, in which all Palestinians can take part, or, if not possible, by national consensus in order to achieve national partnership and reinforce the Palestinians’ ability to select their leaders and representatives.
They reaffirmed the importance of protecting freedoms in the Palestinian national environment and rejecting all forms of threats against public freedoms. Condemning the assassination of Palestinian activist Nizar Banat, they reiterated the necessity of holding accountable all those involved in this heinous crime and jointly working on protecting public freedoms.
The participants hailed the Arab and Muslim world for backing the Palestinian people during the “Sword of Al-Quds” battle, expressing their appreciation to all parties that supported the Palestinians politically, militarily, and financially.
"It is time to mobilize the Arab and Muslim nations and the free people of the world to face the Israeli occupation."
The meeting expressed outright rejection to normalization with the Israeli occupation.
"It is vital to put an end to the wave of normalization with the Israeli occupation. Thus, we call on all Arab and Muslim parties to reverse all steps taken in this course."
The participants saluted the Joint Operations Room of the Palestinian resistance factions, as well as the Palestinian martyrs, detainees, and wounded.
They confirmed that releasing Palestinian detainees will remain a national priority.
