Human rights activists testify to PA's repression of peaceful protests in Ramallah

Human rights activists testified to what the Palestinian security forces did to the civilians who participated in a peaceful demonstration held in front of the Beireh police station last night.

They expressed their surprise at the brutal policy the security forces adopted to break the demonstration organized by the families of the political detainees to demand the release of their sons.

They confirmed that they had not witnessed this kind of oppression any before as the forced noted pulled the females' hairs and beat them hard.

They stood to say one sentence: "State of freedoms... No to political detention."

The head of Al-Haq Institute Sha'wan Jabareen stated that the Palestinian police and leadership insisted on the use of such brutal attitudes and attacks against the protestors, calling for the release of the political detainees.

"I dare any security man to say that there were other sentences said except that one, but It seemed that the Palestinian leadership was provoked. And I insist on saying the Palestinian leadership because what happened last night was not a local decision by policemen and a security leader," Jabareen said.

"Pulling females' hairs and beating them with sticks and stones are hurting and shameful actions," he added.

He confirmed, with anger, that those behaviors should not be practiced by a police that was supposed to protect the people and act within the framework of the law. Hence, those attitudes reflect the hidden policies of the Palestinian leadership, which did not know the meaning of rights, freedoms, the sovereignty of law nor the meaning of unity.
