The European Union (EU) called to cease demolitions carried out by the Israeli authorities in the occupied Palestinian territories (oPt).

"Dismayed to note that in 2021 IL have displaced 595 Palestinians, including 320 children in the oPt, representing a 50% increase compared to last year," said European Union Delegation to the Palestinians in a tweet.

"The last demolition in Humsa on 7 July, 42 people including 24 children, were displaced and remain in desperate need of humanitarian aid," it added.

"In the past two days, three Palestinian families in East Jerusalem, including Silwan, have been forced to self-demolish their homes. Such activities are not only cruel but also illegal under international law and must cease," it stressed.
