39 female prisoners live in harsh conditions in Damon prison

The Detainees and Ex-detainees Affairs Commission reported that the female prisoners in the Damon prison, who are almost 39, suffer from harsh conditions of detention as the prison's administration practices repressive policies against them.

The commission noted that the occupation authorities continue practicing repressive and oppressive policies against the prisoners. Most importantly, the deliberate medical negligence against the sick prisoners such as, Israa Ja'abis who is one of prisoners who need urgent surgery to save the risk of her body, and Rawan Abo Zeyada who suffers from stomach bug and bones problems. Also, Nisreen Abo Kmeil who has diabetes and hypertension diseases, and Somoud Abo Thaher who suffers from blood problems.

It informed that watching and observing the yards of the Damon prison by cameras is also one of the violations the female prisoners are being imposed to, as they lose privacy.

"The number of the female prisoners in the Damon prison is almost 39, after the release of the prisoner Hilwa Hamamra on August 8, 2021," the commission said.
