The Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid on Wednesday will arrive in Morocco on a visit that is the first of its kind since the normalization of relations between the two sides resumed months ago.
The Hebrew newspaper, Haaretz, reported that this is the first time that an Israeli foreign minister has visited Morocco since 2003, when Lapid will open an Israeli representation in the capital, Rabat, and will meet with his counterpart, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.
Lapid described the visit as "historic," saying that it was the culmination of a friendship that spanned many years.
Lapid expressed his confidence in continuing to work to include other countries in the circle of normalization.
