Israeli settlers Saturday fired teargas canisters at Palestinian farmers working on their land in Beit Ummar town in Hebron, in the south of the West Bank, according to a local activist.
The activist in the popular resistance Yusuf Abu Maria told SAFA that settlers attacked Palestinian farmers while they were harvesting the olive crops in their lands, triggering clashes between the settlers and farmers.
Abu Maria added that the Israeli forces came to the place and fired tear gas canisters and rubber bullets at the citizens to disperse them and force them to leave their lands, resulting in suffocating dozens of citizens from inhaling the gas.
He confirmed that the settlers' practices in the area located next to the Beit Ain settlement continue to harass citizens and prevent them from accessing their lands, burning and vandalizing crops, aiming at expanding the settlement at the expense of the citizens' lands.
Under the protection of the Israeli army, the settlers have escalated their attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank, at the time of the olive-picking season.
