Hamas Calls on UN to Act as Israeli Airstrikes Kill Dozens Across Gaza

The Islamic Resistance Movement has condemned a new wave of deadly Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip, calling on the United Nations to move beyond symbolic condemnation and take real steps to halt what it describes as an ongoing campaign of genocide.

In a statement issued Saturday evening, Hamas described the escalation of Israeli airstrikes, targeting residential neighbourhoods, shelters for the displaced, and food aid points, as “daily massacres” and a continuation of systematic war crimes.

“The government of war criminal Netanyahu continues its genocide against the Palestinian people with complete disregard for international law,” the statement read.

The movement urged Arab and Islamic nations, along with UN bodies and humanitarian agencies, to intervene urgently, saying, “Condemnation is no longer enough. The UN must act decisively to stop the starvation, mass killings, and destruction carried out by the occupying forces for nearly two years.”

Since the war began on October 7, 2023, Gaza has endured mass killings, forced displacement, the destruction of homes and infrastructure, and a blockade-induced famine. Health authorities estimate that over 193,000 Palestinians have been killed or wounded, more than 10,000 remain missing beneath the rubble, and hundreds of thousands have been displaced into makeshift shelters with little or no access to food, water, or medicine.

Despite multiple calls by the international community and binding rulings from the International Court of Justice, Israel’s military campaign has continued with impunity, as Gaza’s humanitarian collapse deepens by the day.
