Detainees Commission: occupation prisons neglect health of Palestinian prisoner

The Detainees and Ex-detainees Affairs Commission called Sunday on the international institutions, headed by the World Health Organization, the International Committee for the Red Crescent and other human rights organizations to press on the Israeli occupation to save the life of the prisoner Nasser Abo Hamid,49.

The Palestinian prisoner Abo Hamid, from Ramallah, who has been in prison since 2002, is sentenced to life imprisonment and 50 years.

The commission said that the prisoner has a tumor on the lungs and liver, and that the administration of the Israeli jails ignores his health situation as he was transferred from Barzilai Medical Center into section 3 in Ashkelon prison in a separate room.

The head of the Commission’s administration in the southern provinces Hassan Qanita stated that the prison’s administration neglects the life of the sick prisoners who need surgeries and treatment, as well as it prevents the entry of medical staff and prevents sending their files to specialists outside the prison. This increases the number of martyrs and patients.

Qanita also called for pressing on the Israeli occupation to provide care and medicine for the prisoner Abu Hamid and all sick prisoners, and save their lives from the policy of deliberate negligence practiced by the Israeli prisons’ administration.
