Palestinian females detained in Sharon jail face worrying conditions

The Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Committee has expressed its concern over the conditions of the Palestinian women detained in Israel's Sharon jail.

The Committee said in a statement, a copy of which obtained by SAFA, that the female detainees were held for 14 days in poor and inhuman conditions before they were transferred to the Damon jail.

It added that they suffer from difficult living conditions, pointing out that "the Palestinian female detainees are thrown immediately after their detention into a section next to the criminal prisoners' section, and they are subjected to verbal harassment by them."

It confirmed that the detention administration allows the jailers to enter the females' section, in a way that violates their privacy.

It is worth noting that there 39 Palestinian women, including 15 mothers, detained in Israeli jails where they face harsh conditions.
