Israeli forces Monday at dawn detained a prominent woman activist and a female university student in Ramallah city, according to local sources.

The sources reported that Israeli forces detained the head of the Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees Khitam Saafin, 56, during a predawn raid at her home in Beitunia town, west of Ramallah.

The sources also confirmed that the Israeli forces detained Shatha Tawil, the student at Birzeit University, after raiding her home in al-Bireh city, adjacent to Ramallah.

During the raids, clashes erupted between the Israeli soldiers and a group of Palestinian youth.
