Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said that the continued Israeli escalation on the Gaza Strip, the tightening siege, and preventing the entry of fuel, goods and necessities of life to the strip is a crime against humanity and Israel is responsible for its consequences.

Barhoum stressed in a statement, a copy of which obtained by Safa Press Agency on Monday, that Israel is mistaken if it thinks that it undermines the determination of Palestinian people in Gaza by tightening the siege.

In addition, he called on human rights organizations and the international community to break their silence, work to stop the Israeli aggression and end the siege on Gaza.

"The absence of the tough decisions to Israel and ignoring its crimes and normalizing with it is the main reason for its continued preparation of violations against Palestinian people," Barhoum added.

He called on the Palestinian Authority to play its role, shoulder its responsibilities towards the besieged residents of Gaza, and work to support them, and provide them with the necessities of life in light of the ongoing siege and aggression.

Recently, Israel has tightened its siege on the strip, including stopping the entry of fuel, reducing the fishing zone, rejecting applicants to many patients and shelling the strip for many nights in a row.
