Israel builds more settlements after US elections

The National Bureau for Land Defense and Settlement Resistance said that the Israeli government is annexing large areas of the West Bank after results of the presidential elections in the United States and the expected change in the US administration on January 20.

In a weekly report, a copy of which obtained SAFA on Saturday, that the administration of US President Donald Trump continues its support for the occupation government with a series of steps in building settlements.

He explained that among these steps is the expected visit of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, next week, to the occupied Golaan Heights and a number of West Bank settlements, which is the first such visit of a US Secretary of State.

Moreover, he indicated that the Minister of the Israeli Army, Benny Gantz, seeks to whitewash and legitimize the presence of 1,700 settlement units in the West Bank, in an attempt by the leader of Kahol Lavan to win over the settlers in the settlement units built on Palestinian lands, which are considered illegal in the occupation laws.

Israeli Minister of Transportation, Miri Regev, has announced a settlement scheme to construct a new network of roads so as to connect between illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank, last week.

Israeli settler groups, last week, commenced the construction of a new settlement outpost in the area of Ras al-Tin area in the village of Kafr Malik located east of Ramallah, and prevented the shepherds and the people from reaching the site. The settlers had previously established a settlement outpost, but the Palestinian people confronted them and prevented them from establishing it.

Settlers are trying to demolish the school in the Ras al-Tin area, which was established with the funding from European countries, under the protection of the occupation forces in preparation for dismissal the Bedouin people from their lands.

In Jerusalem, the "Moshe Leon municipality" agreed to build 108 new settlement units in what is known as the "Ramat Shlomo" neighborhood. This plan was stopped in the past due to a problem between the Israeli government and the administration of former US President Barack Obama.

The Israeli municipality in Jerusalem is working on approving building plans in settlements in the city, before Biden enters the White House, and these building plans will be built in the settlements of "Har Homa", "Givat Hamatos" and "Atarot".
