Greek Miss Universe contestant re-states her support for Palestine

Greek Miss Universe contestant Rafaela Plastira, who withdrew from Miss Universe contest in protest against holding it in the occupying state, Israel, has posted a new statement in which she re-stated her support and deep love for Palestine.

Plastira took it to Instagram to say how beautiful it is to see the love she received from her followers after she decided not to take part in the Miss Universe pageant that’s scheduled to be hosted by Israel.

"It’s so beautiful to see how much love and support and understanding I get from all of you," she wrote. "Palestine you are not only in my mind every day but you have the most beautiful place in my heart forever." Plastira added that "my guardian angels are there when needed. I will always keep praying for all of you! I didn’t expect this love support." The Greek Miss Universe said that she was disappointed in Miss Universe and that "humanity is above beauty pageants."

"I finally see real souls with clean hearts. I feel it. I am disappointed in Miss Universe for this! It was a childhood dream for me but I really don’t care. I CARE about my people," she said.

"Humanity ABOVE Beauty Pageants! I fought hard to stand here but let's not forget." Miss Greece withdrew from the contest saying: "I will not be attending 'Miss Universe' this year. The reason for that is the country. I can’t go up that stage and act like nothing is happening when people are fighting for their lives out there," in reference to the Palestinian people who are struggling to be free from Israeli occupation, repression, and apartheid regime.
