Former American intelligence and military officer Josephine Guilebo has accused the U.S. Congress of being complicit in the ongoing violence in Gaza, criticizing the unconditional support the U.S. provides to Israel. Guilebo made these remarks during a session of the House Veterans Affairs Committee on Thursday, where she voiced her dissatisfaction with the policies of the U.S. administration and Congress towards Israel.
Addressing members of Congress in her military uniform, Guilebo stated, "The U.S. Congress is complicit in this genocide happening in Gaza. You continue to send billions of dollars to Israel. As an officer who served for 17 years in intelligence, I see how you are destroying American values and our national security."
She continued, "Israel is burning children alive in Gaza. For a year, I have watched how Israel burns children alive. You do not value veterans nor American values; you are destroying this country."
Guilebo expressed deep shame towards Congress members, urging them to have the courage to do what is right. Following the request of the session's chair, security personnel removed her from the room.
Outside the session, Guilebo further explained that the U.S. Congress allocates billions of dollars in aid to countries like Israel, while failing to provide adequate assistance to American veterans. "It is time for veterans to raise their voices and say enough; we must rescue our country from what Congress is currently doing," she stated.
