Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli aggression on Gaza and the West Bank has led to the martyrdom of 12,943 students and the injury of 21,681 others, as reported by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

The Ministry revealed on Tuesday that Gaza alone accounts for over 12,943 student martyrs and 21,681 injuries since the start of the aggression. Meanwhile, in the West Bank, 120 students have been martyred, 655 injured, and 548 detained. The aggression has also resulted in the martyrdom of 630 teachers and administrators, with 3,865 others injured, and over 158 teachers and administrators arrested in the West Bank.

The scale of destruction in educational institutions is unprecedented. In the Gaza Strip, 425 schools, universities, and related buildings, including 65 UNRWA institutions, have been bombed and vandalized, leaving 171 schools severely damaged and 77 completely destroyed. Similarly, in the West Bank, 109 schools and seven universities have been stormed and vandalised.

As a result, more than 788,000 students in Gaza have been deprived of their right to education, unable to attend schools or universities. Many of these students are suffering from severe psychological traumas and facing dire health conditions due to the ongoing violence.

For the 452nd consecutive day, the Israeli occupation forces have persisted in their war of aggression against Gaza. This continuous assault, marked by intense bombings and systematic destruction, has resulted in new massacres and exacerbated the suffering of the Palestinian people.
