1,542 Displaced Palestinians Tents Flooded by Rainwater

The Gaza Civil Defense reported Wednesday that over the past 48 hours, 1,542 tents sheltering displaced Palestinians were flooded by rainwater, worsening their already dire conditions. The affected tents, with water levels exceeding 30 cm, caused the displaced to shiver in the cold and damaged their belongings.

Rescue teams found 242 tents submerged in Al-Yarmouk Stadium and Gaza Municipality Park camps, 185 in Al-Saraya Compound, and 70 in the Shujaiya parking lot. In Rafah, 170 tents near the beach and "Fish Fresh" café were flooded, while Khan Younis saw over 665 tents submerged in areas around Al-Aqsa University and nearby neighborhoods.

The Civil Defense also reported flooding in central Gaza, with 210 tents affected in Deir al-Balah, Bassa, and Wadi al-Salqa areas. Many of these tents are now uninhabitable until winter ends, further exacerbating the plight of displaced families. Hundreds of other tents experienced water seepage, leaving the displaced vulnerable in the face of harsh winter conditions.
