The Palestinian Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip reported that its teams have retrieved 162 bodies of martyrs from under the rubble of homes and buildings targeted by the Israeli occupation across various areas of the Strip since the ceasefire last Sunday.

In a daily report detailing the number of bodies recovered, the Civil Defense stated in a press release that on Wednesday, its teams retrieved 9 martyrs: 2 from Gaza and northern governorates, and 7 from the southern governorates.

It added, “Thousands of martyrs remain under the rubble of homes and buildings destroyed by the occupation.

Our teams are unable to access and retrieve them due to the lack of heavy equipment and machinery.”

On Wednesday, the Gaza Government Media Office announced that “14,222 people are missing as a result of the genocidal war waged by the occupation on the Strip, and their bodies have not yet reached hospitals as of January 18, 2025.”

Official Palestinian data from the Ministry of Health in Gaza revealed that the death toll from the Israeli aggression on the Strip has risen to 47,161 martyrs, in addition to 111,166 people injured with varying degrees of severity, since October 7, 2023.
