Amnesty: Al-Khudari and Palestinian detainees are subjected to grave violations in KSA

Amnesty International announced Sunday in a statement that Dr. Muhammad Al-Khudari (81 years) and his son, Dr. Hani, a Palestinian, who have been detained for more than a year in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), are still denied access to a lawyer and are subjected to grave violations launched by the kingdom.

It confirmed that the two men are subjected to gross violations of their human rights, including being subjected to “enforced disappearance, arbitrary arrest and incommunicado detention in solitary confinement”.

Moreover, it indicated that there are serious concerns about the health of Dr. Muhammad, who suffers from cancer, calling on King Salman to ensure the release of him immediately and unconditionally, and stressed the need to provide protection for him, and to grant him immediately appropriate medical care.

In the context, the Twitter account of prisoners of conscience, which tracks the file of detainees in Saudi prisons, stated that a number of Palestinian and Jordanian personalities will be brought to trial at the Specialized Criminal Court in Riyadh next month, including Al-Khoudary, on charges of supporting a “terrorist entity,” and is intended to support “ Palestinian resistance."

Furthermore, the head of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) media department abroad, Raafat, once expressed his great concern about the health of Palestinian detainees in Saudi Arabia due to the spread of the Corona epidemic, and pointed out that Hamas had communicated during the previous months with regional bodies, with the aim of examining the conditions of the detainees, and in a humanitarian effort.

The Saudi authorities arrested in April 2019 62 Palestinians without any first charge, including the representative of Hamas in KSA, Muhammad al-Khudari and his son Hani, but they were accused in March 2020 to support a "terrorist entity", referring to the Palestinian resistance.

Human rights sources revealed a serious deterioration in the health of Al-Khodari.

The account of "Prisoners of Conscience" stated that, last June, the Saudi authorities transferred Hani Al-Khudary to the cell where his father is located due to his deteriorating health condition and his inability to move and serve himself recently.

The deputy head of the Hamas movement abroad, Muhammad Nazzal, announced that the Saudi authorities prevented the families of Palestinian detainees in the kingdom's prisons from visiting their relatives during Eid al-Fitr.

Nazzal tweeted that each detainee was allowed to communicate with his family for only 5 minutes, and Muhammad al-Khodari's son was allowed to stay in the cell of his sick father to help him.

It is worth noting that the detainees in the Kingdom are being tried for charitable acts that were provided to those in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Palestinians in the diaspora, the poor in Gaza and the Palestinian territories.
