Hamas Hands Over Three Israeli Prisoners to the Red Cross

On Saturday, members of Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, handed over Israeli-American captive Keith Shimoncel Segal to the International Red Cross after he appeared on a platform in a large open area by the sea at Gaza’s port.

A Red Cross representative signed a document confirming the receipt of the 65-year-old prisoner, paving the way for his transfer to Israel.

Hamas had previously released Segal’s wife as part of the prisoner exchange deal in November 2023.

Segal was supposed to be included in the next phase of the exchange, but the Israeli military resumed its offensive, delaying his release.

On April 27, Hamas released a video featuring two Israeli captives pleading with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to negotiate a deal for their release, warning that they were enduring harsh conditions under bombardment. Segal was one of the two captives in the footage.
