The Palestinian Prisoners' Society and the Palestinian Prisoners' Club revealed shocking testimonies of ongoing torture against Gaza prisoners in Israeli detention camps. Based on recent visits to 11 prisoners in camps like Sde Teiman, Naftali, Anataut, and Negev Prison, the prisoners recounted the brutal treatment they endured during their arrest, interrogation, and confinement.
One significant testimony was about the "Disco Interrogation", where prisoners were subjected to loud music for two days. (Y.F.), a prisoner, shared how he was humiliated during his arrest and later interrogated in this method, resulting in a 5-minute trial where he didn’t understand the charges against him.
In Anataut Camp, prisoners are blindfolded, handcuffed, and isolated, with their need to use the bathroom used as a form of torture. They are also deprived of sleep, food, and are forbidden from talking to each other.
Conditions in Sde Teiman included severe beatings, food deprivation, and lack of hygiene products. Negev Prison was notorious for starvation tactics, and outbreaks of diseases like scabies. The overall deprivation and humiliation led to the deaths of several prisoners, with 37 prisoners from Gaza confirmed martyred since the war began. Many other names remain hidden by Israeli authorities.
The testimonies reveal a horrific system of systematic torture, including medical abuse, sexual violations, and the use of prisoners as human shields.
