Global Outrage Over Trump's Gaza Plan

Donald Trump’s proposal to take control of Gaza and forcibly displace its population has ignited fierce international condemnation, uniting both allies and adversaries of Washington in rejection.

During a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump suggested that Washington, possibly with U.S. military involvement, could oversee Gaza’s reconstruction, envisioning it as the "Riviera of the Middle East." He further proposed relocating the Palestinian population elsewhere.

The plan was swiftly denounced by key international players, including European nations, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, China, and Russia. Officials warned that any forced displacement of Palestinians constitutes a grave violation of international law and would only deepen the crisis. The UN stressed that such actions would amount to an unlawful transfer of civilians from occupied territory.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas dismissed the proposal, declaring that Palestinian rights are "non-negotiable." Meanwhile, Trump's remarks echoed past statements from his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who previously described Gaza as valuable waterfront property, suggesting that Israel bulldoze parts of the Negev desert to temporarily house displaced Palestinians while Gaza is "cleared."

Reports also indicate that Trump had once suggested to Netanyahu that luxury hotels be built over Gaza’s ruins, further fueling outrage over what critics see as an attempt to erase Palestinian identity and sovereignty.
