Israel begins releasing 369 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for three Israelis

On Saturday, three Israeli prisoners— Iair Horn, Sagui Dekel-Chen, and Sasha Troufanov— were freed in Gaza, while Israel began releasing 369 Palestinian detainees as part of the ceasefire deal.

The Israeli prisoners were shown on stage in Khan Younes, surrounded by armed Hamas militants, before being transported to Israel. A bus carrying Palestinian detainees left the Ofer prison in the West Bank, arriving in Ramallah to cheers from the crowd.

Musa Nawarwa, a 70-year-old former commander of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, expressed gratitude upon his release, having served two life sentences.

The exchange, part of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, is set to last 42 days. Despite threats from both sides, mediators ensured the process continued. So far, 19 Israeli prisoners and five Thai nationals have been freed, while 73 remain in captivity.
