Palestinian Prisoner Recounts Torture and Amputation in Israeli Jail

Recently released Palestinian prisoner Adel Sbaih has exposed the severe torture and medical neglect he endured in Israel’s Sde Teiman prison, where his foot was amputated due to injuries sustained during his arrest. Israeli forces had used him as a human shield before subjecting him to beatings and extreme mistreatment.

Despite undergoing 26 operations, Sbaih faced relentless abuse, including electric shocks and attacks by police dogs. When offered early release in exchange for dropping a lawsuit against his torturers, he refused, determined to seek justice.

Now back in Gaza, Sbaih remains committed to advocating for Palestinian prisoners, as human rights organisations continue to condemn Israel’s widespread use of torture and medical neglect in its detention facilities.
