Palestinian Prisoners Face Disease and Torture Under Israeli Custody

Palestinian detainees are enduring harrowing conditions inside Israeli prisons, with mounting testimonies exposing systematic medical neglect, deliberate spread of disease, and acts of physical and psychological torture. Rights groups warn that more than 10,000 prisoners, including women and children, face life-threatening abuse that has sharply escalated since the war on Gaza began.

The Palestinian Commission for Prisoners reported cases of inmates left untreated for severe illnesses, including scabies and debilitating allergies, alongside those suffering from chronic pain and vision loss denied even basic medical care. Testimonies describe prisoners being scalded with boiling water and forced to drink alcohol, in what has been condemned as calculated efforts to break them.

With over 10,800 Palestinians currently detained, among them 450 children, many remain imprisoned without charge or trial. Rights groups accuse Israeli authorities of using starvation, torture, and medical neglect as tools of control, warning that several detainees have already died in custody. Calls for urgent international intervention grow louder, yet the silence of the global community continues to shield these crimes from accountability.
