Israel Failed in Gaza, Says Iranian FM

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has claimed that Israel failed to achieve any of its war objectives in Gaza, despite what he described as "grave international crimes" and the killing of thousands of Palestinians. Speaking during a meeting with Ziyad al-Nakhaleh, Secretary-General of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), Araghchi praised the Palestinian resistance for what he called a "historic victory," asserting that Israel ultimately accepted a ceasefire after failing to defeat the resistance groups it sought to destroy.

Araghchi emphasised the Palestinian people's decades-long struggle for self-determination and liberation, highlighting the widespread support for Palestine among Islamic nations. He called for holding Israel accountable for its actions in Gaza, urging accelerated legal proceedings in national and international courts to address what he termed "genocide."

Nakhaleh thanked Iran for its unwavering political and diplomatic support, as well as the backing of the Axis of Resistance, including groups in Lebanon, Yemen, and Iraq. He praised the unity among Palestinian resistance factions and reaffirmed their determination to continue fighting until liberation from what he called the "oppressive Zionist entity."

The meeting also touched on Iran-Iraq relations, with Araghchi meeting Faleh al-Fayyadh, head of Iraq's Popular Mobilisation Forces. Both sides stressed the importance of strategic cooperation and addressing regional developments, as the Palestinian resistance and its allies remain steadfast in their struggle for justice and freedom.
