The Israeli Ministry of Diaspora Affairs said on Wednesday that the first Jewish school will be opened in Dubai, UAE, next year, in a way to strengthen the status of the Jewish community in the UAE.
"It is expected that 200 students will enroll in the school in light of expectations of an increase in the number of the Jewish community," the ministry added in a statement.
Such a step will be implemented through the United Organization which works on behalf of the Diaspora Affairs Ministry to spread Jewish education around the world.
According to the Ministry statistics, the number of the Jewish community in the UAE is about 1,000 and it is expected to increase in the coming years.
Israel last September signed a normalization agreement with both the UAE and Bahrain to establish full diplomatic relations that represents a major departure from the policy that other Arab countries are still following by pledging not to recognize Israel until reaching a peace agreement with the Palestinians.
