The Palestine Center for Prisoner Studies has revealed that at least 61 Palestinian prisoners have been killed under torture or due to deliberate medical neglect in Israeli prisons since October 7, 2023—the highest death toll in the history of the Palestinian prisoner movement. Hundreds more remain unaccounted for, their fate concealed by Israeli authorities.
Testimonies from released detainees confirm that many were executed shortly after arrest, while others endured severe torture, starvation, and inhumane conditions. Israeli forces continue to withhold the bodies of at least 70 prisoners, denying families the right to bury their loved ones.
The center condemned Israel’s systematic crimes, linking them to official incitement by extremist government figures. It called on the international community to demand accountability, urging the ICC to investigate Israeli leaders for war crimes. Without urgent action, the cycle of impunity will persist, leaving justice out of reach for Palestinian detainees and their grieving families.
