The United Nations Special Coordinator for the Peace Process in the Middle East, Nikolai Mladenov, called on Israel to quickly investigate the killing of the 13-year-old child Ali Abu Alia, who succumbed to being shot by the Israeli forces on Friday evening.

“Israel must swiftly and independently investigate this shocking and unacceptable incident,” he tweeted.

"Children have special protection under international law, and they must be protected from violence," he added.
