The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has expressed gratitude towards Yemen for its direct intervention in support of the Palestinian people facing relentless aggression from the Israeli regime. On Thursday, March 20, Abu Obaida, spokesperson for Hamas' armed wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, commended Yemen for its honorable stance and unwavering solidarity with Gaza.
Abu Obaida highlighted that the courageous fighters of Yemen continue to stand by the defenseless Palestinian population trapped in Gaza, enduring the horrors of what he described as a genocidal campaign by Israeli forces. "Despite the heavy price they pay for their loyalty to Al-Aqsa and Palestine, the Yemeni people have shown their commitment to justice," he stated.
The spokesperson referenced a recent missile strike launched by Yemen towards Tel Aviv, emphasizing that such actions demonstrate Gaza is not alone in its struggle. "Today, Yemen's missiles crossed paths with those from Gaza over Tel Aviv, proving that the free people of this nation stand firmly behind Palestine and will not abandon it to its arrogant enemies," he declared.
Abu Obaida called on the Muslim world to unite in defense of Al-Aqsa Mosque and to continue supporting Gaza in its resistance against what he termed the "criminal Zionist enemy." He urged all freedom-loving individuals to join the battle to protect Palestinian rights and to help end the ongoing aggression.
The statement comes amid renewed violence in Gaza, where Israeli forces resumed their offensive on March 18, breaking a fragile ceasefire and resulting in the deaths of nearly 600 civilians, predominantly women and children. The international community, including global leaders, UN officials, and human rights organizations, has condemned the escalation, which has claimed the lives of approximately 50,000 Palestinians since October 2023.
In response to repeated violations of the truce by Israeli forces, including ground and aerial attacks, Hamas launched several rockets into Israel on Thursday. This marked the first such attack since the ceasefire began in mid-January, underscoring the fragile and volatile nature of the situation in the region.
