Israeli Forces Subject Female Prisoners to Strip Searches in Damon Prison

The Palestinian Prisoners Media Office has reported alarming incidents involving female Palestinian prisoners at Damon Prison, where they were subjected to brutal raids and forced strip searches last week. According to the statement, Israeli YAMAZ special forces stormed the prisoners' cells, compelling them to undergo invasive searches in the bathrooms—an act viewed as a gross violation of human dignity.

Following these raids, the prisoners were taken to a canteen room where Israeli authorities confiscated all their food supplies, which they had gathered in preparation for Ramadan. This crackdown reportedly occurred three times, with forces raiding individual cells to instill fear and psychological distress among the detainees.

Currently, 24 female prisoners are held in Damon Prison, facing dire conditions. Their food rations remain grossly inadequate, consisting of small portions of legumes, rice, and pea soup, with no increase in quantities for the fasting month of Ramadan. They are prohibited from storing food for pre-dawn Suhoor meals, leaving them reliant on water after long hours of fasting.

The Palestinian Prisoners Media Office has condemned these actions as unacceptable and in clear violation of international human rights laws. They are calling on human rights and international organizations to intervene urgently to check on the well-being of the female detainees, ensure their protection, and hold the Israeli occupation accountable for its ongoing violations against Palestinian women in detention. The office has emphasized that Israeli authorities must be held fully responsible for the safety and dignity of the female prisoners and is demanding immediate international pressure to end these abuses.
