On March 26, 2025, the Palestinian Prisoners' Media Office disclosed alarming and systematic violations against female prisoners at Damon prison, highlighting the ongoing repression by the occupation prison administration. A recent press release detailed a disturbing incident where the Israeli repression unit "Yamaz" forcibly entered the prisoners' quarters during daylight hours, subjecting them to degrading strip searches in a manner described as "barbaric" and a blatant violation of human dignity.
The report indicated that the administration confiscated food supplies prepared by the prisoners for Ramadan, exacerbating their already dire living conditions. These incursions reportedly occurred three times within the week, aiming to instill fear and undermine the prisoners' morale. Currently, 24 female prisoners are held under harsh conditions, receiving inadequate meals primarily consisting of legumes, rice, and soup, with no opportunity to store food for Suhur. This leaves them reliant on limited water intake after long fasting hours.
The Office emphasized that these actions violate international and humanitarian laws, calling for urgent intervention from human rights organizations to protect the rights of female prisoners and ensure their basic needs are met. The ongoing mistreatment underscores a broader responsibility to uphold the dignity and lives of Palestinian women in detention, demanding accountability for these persistent violations.
